Disable or Enable Yahoo’s 2 Step Verification

What is 2-Step Verification:
Yahoo’s two-step verification adds an extra layer of protection to your account. Turning this setting on forces you to verify your account using a mobile phone number anytime you log into your email on a new computer or device. Once you’ve verified your account on a device, you won’t have to verify again. This makes it harder to log into your email on other computers, thus protecting your account from online hackers or intruders.

To turn these settings off, you will need to be able to log into your email to open your settings. If you already have 2-step verification turned on and want to turn it off, be sure to use a computer you’ve already verified your account on. This will prevent issues if you don’t have access to your phone.

Trying to turn off 2-step and don’t have access to the phone?
If you can’t get to a device that you frequently use to log into your email and it’s forcing you to verify the account, in the same window asking for your code you’ll be provided the option to use one of your recovery options to verify instead. These will be whichever recovery options you’ve setup on the account that you would typically use to reset your password.
