How to Run an SFC Scan (System File Checker)

  1. Open Command Prompt.
  2. Make sure to run the program as an Administrator.
  3. In the window that pops up type in: sfc /scannow
  4. Then Hit Enter.
This will initiate a scan with a percentage on the progress.
  5. Let that scan run and once finished you will need to reboot the computer to apply those changes.
Note: do not close this Command Prompt window until the verification is 100% complete.

An SFC scan goes through all protected system files and replaces corrupted files.
So if you have the computer acting strange or programs acting strange, you can try running this scan.
