Enable Network Discovery and File Sharing on Windows OS

Easy guide to enabling the network discovery for creating a file share system in your home!

Windows 10 – Windows Vista:

1) Using the Windows search bar in the bottom left type Control Panel then open it, and select the option “Network and Internet”.
2) Select the option “Network and Sharing Center”.
3) Select the option “Change advanced sharing settings” near the upper-left.
4) Open the expansion for the type of network for which you’d like to change the settings.
5) Select the option “Turn on network discovery”.
6) Select the option “Turn on file and printer sharing”.
7) Click “Save changes” then “OK”.

Windows XP:

1) Open Windows Explorer
2) Click on “Tools”
3) Click on “Folder Options”
4) Select the “View” tab and scroll to the bottom of the list.
5) Deselect “Use simple file sharing”
6) Click “Apply to All Folders”, then Apply and OK.
